Tech savvy driver wearing Google Glass gets a ticket for speeding and wearing the super specs

GOOGLE'S hi-tech frames may make it easier for users to email and surf the web, but they can also earn the ire of traffic police as one woman discovered.
Californian blogger Cecilia Abadie was pulled over by police in San Diego and given a ticket for speeding and driving while wearing Google Glass.

CyArk: Preserving world heritage sites with the latest 3D laser scanning technology

Hanging off the nose of one of the massive granite US presidents at Mount Rushmore is something we normally associate with an Alfred Hitchcock movie. But these are the lengths you must go to if you want to save the world’s most stunning heritage sites.
The combination of a hammer and chisel is no longer the best way to preserve the minute detail that has made these monuments so great. An ambitious plan to scan hundreds of the planet’s best cultural spaces with a 3D laser is a plot old Hitch himself would have been proud to put on the big screen.

Dell customers rejoice: Your laptops no longer smell of cat urine

Dell has moved to reassume customers that laptops bought from the company will no longer smell of cat urine.
The company had received complaints about a stench coming from Latitude 6430u Ultrabooks as far back as June.
Forum user Three west had written: ‘The machine is great, but it smells as if it was assembled near a tomcat’s litter box. It is truly awful! It seems to be coming from the keyboard. Anybody got any advice on removing the smell?

HP Chromebook 11 review

Hewlett-Packard's new Chromebook 11 is a laptop at heart, but it's light and portable enough to work well in places where you'd normally prefer a tablet.
I'm thinking cramped buses and airplanes, the waiting area of a doctor's office or even the cushiony couch in your living room. The Chromebook is small enough to rest comfortably on your lap and easy to carry when you need to pick up and go.

Apple working on a fix for new Retina MacBook input issues

Apple on Wednesday acknowledged an issue with some models of its newest MacBook Pro with Retina Display that would leave the keyboard and trackpad unresponsive.
Those computers were released last week alongside the debut of new iPads. Some users have been complaining of the issue on their devices since then, though it's been unclear just how widespread it is.

Coming soon to a Google Glass near you: Mono earbuds!

Google has shared images of its updated Glass.
The company on Tuesday posted images of the new Google Glass, featuring a mono earbud and support for prescription glasses. It appears the device has no other hardware upgrades, but Google said it will also be compatible with shades it plans to offer at some point in the future.

Google is offering Explorers who purchased Glass before Monday a one-time option to exchange their current device for the upgraded version. Google didn't say exactly when the new devices will be available, only that it would notify Explorers in November with the next steps for the swap program. Explorers can also switch to a different colored Glass during the one-time swap. The images follow a Google+ post on Monday that announced the upgrade.

Google smartwatch: Will it be an 'iPhone moment' for wearables?

Despite all the promises, smartwatches remain an acquired taste. Yes, there's a market but one that largely caters to the likes of health junkies and early adopters.
Fitness bands are cheap and light but too minimalist. Samsung's Galaxy Gear is all brawn but lacks device compatibility and email support. And the Pebble, one of the first true-blue smartwatches, is still trying to build an app ecosystem the way that Google and Apple did for their smartphones. It's an uphill battle for Pebble, the smartwatch darling, and it won't get any easier when those tech titans join the fray.
